How to make the perfect Espresso?

Espresso
  1. Start with quality beans: Use fresh, high-quality coffee beans. There is so much variety but the term “Speciality” refers to the highest quality.

  2. Grind just before brewing: Grind your coffee beans just before brewing to preserve freshness and flavour. Use a burr grinder for a consistent grind size suitable for your brewing method.

  3. Use the right water: Use clean, filtered water for brewing. Quality matters. Ideally, the water should be between 195°F to 205°F (90°C to 96°C) for optimal extraction.

  4. Measure properly: Use the right coffee-to-water ratio. A general starting point is 7g coffee to 30ml of water for a single espresso.

  5. Brew with care: Pay attention to brewing time, temperature, pressure and technique. Calibrate everything often.

  6. Maintain equipment: Keep your brewing equipment clean and well-maintained to ensure optimal performance and flavour.

  7. Experiment and adjust: Tweak variables like grind size, water temperature, brewing time, and coffee-to-water ratio to find the perfect balance that suits your taste preferences.

  8. Enjoy freshly brewed: Once brewed, enjoy your coffee immediately for the best flavour. Avoid letting it sit on a warming plate, as this can lead to a bitter taste.

  9. Savour the experience: Take a moment to appreciate the aroma and flavor of your freshly brewed coffee. Enjoy it slowly and savor the experience.
